The Professional Community Education Committee is taking part in a project that Annie Valerio is working on. She is offering coalition members, as well as other community organizations the opportunity to take part in the Train the Trainer program. We are asking organizations to participate by providing a brief one page description of their services. (This information can be emailed to me by November 17th.) Please see attachment for an example. This information was emailed out previously on September 21st, but we have not received much feedback. We also discussed it at the recent coalition meeting. Please help us out by participating. She is also offering tables where you can showcase your services on December 16th between 9:00am and 12:30pm. This is free. Please contact Annie directly at 441-8937 to participate in the event. Below is a description of the project.
Project Information:
The Faith Community Nurse Coordinator, and the Center for Community Health at AtlantiCare, has developed a program to educate Congregations regarding Faith
Health issues. The program is called Foundations in Faith – Health, it is a 4 hour per week, 10 week program, designed to empower non health care professionals, to take train the trainer courses, so they may spread faith-health education to their congregations.
Health care topics such as: Healthy Pregnancy’s, Faith Based nutrition and exercise, Diabetes, Search Your Heart Program, and Healthy bones are among the topics discussed. Currently a pilot program is underway, partnering with The Fellowship of Churches in Atlantic City.
There will be a Commemoration Ceremony for this pilot class on Saturday December 16th at 1PM. Prior to commemoration, we will be holding a “Resource Roundup”. If you facilitate a specific service, in Atlantic County, and/or Atlantic City you are cordially welcome to attend from 9AM-12:30 PM on December 16th. You are invited to have a table at the roundup, explain your services, and bring information regarding you services. This is free; please RSVP to Annie Valerio- 441-8937 if you would like to be part of this wonderful opportunity to help the community.
If you can not attend the event you may still include an information sheet. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Angela Bailey.
